Mansfield Police Respond to Two Significant Weekend Incidents, Arrest Three, Seize Firearms and Cocaine

MANSFIELD — The Mansfield Police Department responded to two serious and unrelated incidents over the weekend that resulted in three arrests and the seizure of two firearms and a significant amount of cocaine.

In the first incident, officers responded early Saturday morning to a health and welfare check on West Street that led to a domestic violence investigation.

Following an on-scene investigation, officers arrested a 39-YEAR-OLD MALE, of FOXBOROUGH, on charges of Assault and Battery on a Family/Household Member and Strangulation or Suffocation. The man also had two outstanding warrants for gun and drug charges.

In a separate incident later Saturday morning, officers responded to a call for service on Maple Street that also resulted in a domestic violence investigation. Through an on-scene investigation, Mansfield Police developed probable cause to obtain a court-authorized search warrant.

During the search, detectives seized 128 grams of suspected cocaine, two 9mm firearms and additional drugs, including steroids/testosterone and psilocybin mushrooms.

A 32-YEAR-OLD MALE, of MANSFIELD, was charged with Trafficking in 100 Grams or More of Cocaine, Possession of a Class C Drug (Two Counts), Possession of a Class E Drug, Procuring Liquor for a Person Under the Age of 21, Reckless Endangerment of a Child, Assault and Battery on an Intimate Partner, and Disorderly Conduct.

Additionally, through the investigation, a 32-YEAR-OLD FEMALE, of EAST PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND, was charged with Suffocation or Strangulation.

Additional charges may be filed at the conclusion of the investigation.

Due to the medical needs of two of the suspects, officers maintained continuous hospital watches, requiring additional 24-hour staffing over an extended period of time while the department continued to maintain full police coverage throughout Mansfield.

“Both of these incidents required careful and thorough investigation, with a significant commitment of resources,” said Chief Ronald Sellon. “Our officers were focused first and foremost on maintaining public safety, while also ensuring their own safety and the safety of everyone involved. Our officers handled both situations professionally while continuing to meet the needs of the community.”

Under the Domestic Violence Act of 2014, no further information about these incidents may be released at this time, including the suspects’ names and booking photos. Media inquiries should be directed to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
